What the Credit Covers

The Charger Prep Credit reimburses electrical infrastructure costs — exactly the work Upstate EV Solutions performs.

Eligible for Credit

  • Conduit, wiring, and outlets supplying charger
  • Electrical panel upgrades
  • Breaker installation for dedicated EV circuit
  • All labor for eligible electrical infrastructure work

Not Covered by Credit

  • EV charger hardware (the physical unit)
  • Hardware mounting and commissioning
  • Pulling permits and permit fees

Even though hardware and permits aren't covered, the eligible electrical work typically represents the largest portion of installation costs.

Do You Qualify?

Most Duke Energy SC homeowners with an EV (or planning to get one) qualify. Here's what Duke Energy requires.

Level 2 Charger Required

Must install a Level 2 EV charger requiring at least 40 amps on a new, dedicated circuit.

EV Owner or Buyer

You must currently own an EV or be in the process of purchasing one within the next 120 days.

Address Must Match

Your EV must be registered at the same address where the charger prep work is being performed.

Duke Energy SC Customer

You must be an active Duke Energy South Carolina residential customer to qualify.

120-Day Window

Work completed in the last 120 days is retroactively eligible. Submit your paid invoice to apply.
